Melanie Cheung, PhD

Dr. Cheung is a regularly visiting scientist from the University of Auckland, New Zealand. She travels between Posit Science and her research sites—mostly in indigenous Maori communities—in New Zealand. Her research integrates experimental neurobiology, bioethics, and indigenous knowledge to help people with neurodegenerative diseases. Her current area of interest is the development of therapeutic interventions for Huntington’s disease. Her work at Posit Science is supported by a Fulbright NZ fellowship, and a Health Research Council of New Zealand Project Grant. Dr. Cheung earned her PhD in Pharmacology at the University of Auckland.
