Switched On: A Memoir of Brain Change and Emotional Awakening
John Elder Robison grew up with Asperger’s syndrome, and wrote about it in his memoir Look Me in the Eye, published in 2007. Afterwards, he was invited by a neuroscientist to participate in a study that would hope to understand and treat his autism. He said yes. Switched On chronicles that study and its effect on his sense of self—and sheds light on both the challenges and the rewards of being neurologically different.
